Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi joins Manchester City on pre-season US tour to launch New Extraordinary City Story Campaign

Visit Abu Dhabi team take #ExtraordinaryCityStory campaign to New York, Chicago and Miami as Manchester City took on Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich

Relaunched #ECS competition now gives fans the chance to be included in the Visit Abu Dhabi/Manchester City official video as well as the chance to win a trip to Abu Dhabi

All India, 07th August 2018:With the 2018/19 Premier League season almost upon us, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) and Manchester City Football Club have teamed up once more to launch a season-long campaign which gives fans the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime prize.

A once-in-a-lifetime trip to the UAE capital is up for grabs for 2018/19, but new for this season is the additional prize of the chance to be included in an official video featuring Manchester City’s star players.

The Extraordinary City Story campaign, which proved incredibly popular with fans last campaign, has been relaunched with brand new prizes for the coming season, with DCT Abu Dhabi kicking off the new competition during the Premier League Champions’ pre-season tour of the USA, which saw Pep Guardiola’s team play in Chicago, New York and Miami.

The competition challenges Manchester City fans to share their most ‘extraordinary’ memory of being a City fan in either text or video format on social media using the hashtag #ExtraordinaryCityStory. Entries can also be submitted via the dedicated microsite on the Visit Abu Dhabi website, with all entrants in with a chance of winning a luxury break to the UAE capital to enjoy the same ‘warm weather’ training conditions  - and all the other awesome entertainment on offer – as Guardiola and the team do during mid-season breaks.

But in addition to the already established competition, the 2018/19 Extraordinary City Story campaign also gives fans the opportunity to feature in the ‘Pass on your Extraordinary City Story‘ video, which will feature City’s stars and will be professionally edited and posted online with updates during the season. The completed 2018/19 video will become a digital keepsake for all fervent fans of MCFC as it could feature themselves in action ‘interacting’ with City’s star players.

To enter ‘Pass on your Extraordinary City Story’, fans should simply film themselves with a picturesque or iconic location as a back drop, have a football ‘passed to them from off screen for them to catch, state their name and location to the camera along with ‘What’s your Extraordinary City Story’ to camera, before passing the ball out of shot to the other side.

The best entries will be professionally edited in to a mash-up video, which will start with France central defender Aymeric Laporte in Chicago, continue with Phil Foden in New York, and also include Leroy Sane in Miami. City’s stars at Etihad stadium in Manchester will also be edited in to join the fun.

The celebrate the launch of the new global competition, DCT Abu Dhabi also organised Visit Abu Dhabi branding on Manchester City’s away shirts, which the team wore as they took on the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Bayern Munich whilst in the USA.

Manchester City played Borussia Dortmund at Soldier Field in Chicago on July 21st, UEFA Champions League runners-up Liverpool at Metlife Stadium, New York on July 25th and Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich at Hard Rock Stadium, Miami on July 29th.

City’s first game of the new season is the Community Shield match at Wembley Stadium on August 5th against Chelsea, with their first Premier League game against Arsenal on August 12th.
