BOB MARLEY WEEK 2014
– Celebrate the Birth of Reggae Legend in Jamaica –
All India, 28th January 2014: Jamaica is all set to celebrate the birthday of the world famous Bob Marley on 6th February. The island country rejoices the icons birthday every year. The birthplace of reggae music and Bob Marley will be seen exuberant between 2nd to 8th February this year.
Robert Nesta Marley, affectionately called as Bob Marley has music fans all over the world. Reggae fans and Rastafarians commemorate his birthday with huge enthusiasm. Jamaica, especially Kingston witnesses various events all through the week in the Bob Marley Museum. The museum is where the reggae legend once lived and recorded his music, which is now a famous tourist attraction of Kingston. The museum is a home to a small theatre where a presentation on the life of Bob Marley is played for its visitors. The museum also displays the legends memorabilia where one can shop authentic African crafts and enjoy some Ethiopian cuisines at the restaurants.
Bob Marley was born in 1945 and died at the age of 36 leaving a list of hit songs like – ‘One Love’, ‘Buffalo Soldier’, ‘Jammings’, ‘No Woman No Cry’, etc. The week long celebration includes concerts, karaoke contests, film showings, exhibitions and a tribute to the legendary native of the island.
For the Reggae fans, Nine Mile Tour in Jamaica is another famous and must do activity. Nine Mile is a small village where Bob Marley was born and later buried. Bob Marley Mausoleum has many historical artifacts including guitars, awards, photographs, etc.
Jamaica which typically attracts visitors to soak up some sun is also a haven for reggae and Marley fans. Every year the natives gather to celebrate the life and work of the legend and enjoy events evoking the memory of Jamaica’s favourite son. The country also witnesses thousands of music fans to experience and participate in the festival and enjoy the beats of reggae.
