JAMAICA celebrates 25th Reggae Sumfest

Continuing the timeless legacy of Bob Marley, Montego Bay, Jamaica, kick-starts the world’s

biggest Reggae Sumfest 2017 from 16th July – 22nd July

All India, 17th July 2017: Get set to rock n roll at the legendary foot-tapping beats of Reggae music at the renowned and on-going 25th Reggae Sumfest this year, produced by Downsound Productions. The weeklong joyous festival kick-starts from 16 July, 2017 and goes on till 22 July, 2017 at the largest city, Montego Bay in Jamaica. Soul mantra for this year’s fabulous line-up is, “Our music our festival”.

Reggae Sumfest is often dubbed as ‘the greatest reggae show on earth‘. The influential icon Bob Marley developed the genre reggae in his home country, Jamaica and devoted his life to music. First staged in 1993, Reggae Sumfest quickly became popular not only in Jamaica but throughout the world. Saluting the genre, the festival has successfully incorporated international and globally acclaimed talents like Usher, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Rihanna, and many more, in past few years.

This grand Jamaican party is witnessed by thousands of music lovers from all around the world, every year.  To continue this legacy, this year as well, destination Jamaica is all set to jive into the idiosyncratic star performances by industry A-listers, including, Sean Kingston, Marvelous and Christopher Martin.  To enhance the Jamaican aura, they turn their respective stages into thematic dance floors temptingly addressed as ‘the Blitz Retro Block Party’ and ‘The Adult Playground’. The surprising update to the party is the most awaited performance of father-son duo “Joseph Marley” and “Stephen Marley” which extends the enthusiasm among their fans.

Speaking on the music festivities of Caribbean’s largest music festivalat Destination Jamaica, Joseph Bogdanovich, CEO Downsound Productions, said, “The legacy of Bob Marley, and what he represents, is important to not only Jamaican music and culture, but also to Sumfest specifically. Because of this it is only fitting that, on the 25th anniversary, Stephen, who has both carried on his father’s legacy and forged a successful path for himself in reggae, will perform on the final night of the festival,”.

Being a pilgrimage to hear reggae and dancehall megastars, 25th Reggae Sumfest, the island’s biggest week-long festival, is all set to heat up the Montego Bay in Jamaica, this year. Be there!
