Monaco celebrates BAL DE LA ROSE 2018

All India, for immediate release:Monaco celebrates the 64th edition of 2018 Bal de la Rose that will benefit the Princess Grace Foundation and will be held on Saturday 24th March, at Salle des Etoiles, Sporting Monte-Carlo. H.R.H. Princess of Hanover, President of the Princess Grace Foundation, asked her friend Karl Lagerfeld to design the 2018 Bal de la Rose. Together, they decided on a New York theme, and more specifically Manhattan. The mention of New York instantly conjures up images of its famous skyline. To celebrate the magic of Manhattan, Karl Lagerfeld thought of the cartoonist, Sempé, known all over the world for his albums and his always subtle front pages of the New Yorker; he thus recreated an ideal skyline based on a choice of Sempé’s sketches. The result is a unique decoration, which plunges guest in one-of-a-kind Ball Room on top of a Manhattan skyscraper.
As they cross the hall, guests are both surprised and amused by the sketches of the famous Sempé, whose fantasy views immerge them into a poetic and humorous atmosphere.
For this exceptional evening, Salle des Etoiles will be turned into an imaginary ball room, perched at the top of a skyscraper with a view of New York illustrated by Sempé’s sketches. The tables are decorated with pink and grey satin cloths, with a profusion of roses as centrepieces, highlighting all possible shades of roses.
The show will reflect the various musical accents of New York, global music capital, and birthplace of jazz and blues, among others, which cultivates astonishing eclecticism.
H.R.H. Princess of Hanover requested that the musician Taj Mahal, a New York blues man, be the star of this new edition of Bal de la Rose. The diversity of Manhattan’s musical accents rings out all night long, from jazz to hip-hop, with the Pockemon Crew dancers – famous dance battle competitors – and with 1970s’ disco from the two founding members of the Madman Regent collection, Antis and Adam. A real show is expected.
The combination of the refined world of Karl Lagerfeld, inventor of this sumptuous Ball Room, with the worlds of Sempé and Taj Mahal come very naturally together to re-create the “melting pot” so characteristic of the energetic district of Manhattan.
