REGGAE SUMFEST, MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA – JULY 21 – 27, 2013

-AN ESCAPADE FROM YOUR INHIBITION – YOUR ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE-

All India 17th June, 2013: The king of music festivals and the heart beat of Jamaica is gearing up to an exciting kick off from 21st July at Jamaica’s resort capital, Montego Bay by showcasing the best talents in roots, rock and reggae music. 2013 will mark the 21st staging of what is dubbed…”the greatest reggae show on earth”, attracting millions of tourists from around the world. Kick back, rewind, relax and explore the phenomenal, breathtaking island of Montego Bay, Jamaica!

Bob Marley is the greatest Reggae Icon who ever lived on this planet, just like how Pele is the greatest footballer who ever lived on this planet. The best time to visit Jamaica is during the summer months of July and August. First staged in 1993 by Summerfest Productions Limited, Reggae Sumfest quickly became the world’s premiere reggae music event.  The festival showcases the best of Dancehall and Reggae music, as well as top R & B/Hip Hop performers and offers delicious Jamaican cuisine and arts and crafts.

The festival kicks off with its signature beach party on Sunday, July 21, before going into its three-day show; Thursday, July 25 to Saturday, July 27, at Catherine Hall, Montego Bay. . Past performers have included May J. Blige, LL Cool J, Neyo, Toni Braxton, Chris Brown and several others. This year, performers include Grammy winning singer and song writer Miguel, I-Octane, Damien Marley, Beenie Man, Tifa, Lady Saw, Spice, Barrington Levy, and many other well-known artists.

This festival is not only a paradise for music lovers but also for mouth-watering food and beer enthusiasts. Red Stripe beer and island rum are widely available, as well as traditional Jamaican food such as jerk pork and chicken, meat patties, BBQ chicken with rice and peas and curried goat.

Known fondly as MoBay, Montego Bay is the second-largest city in Jamaica and the country’s lively epicenter of tourism: Cruise ships frequent its port, and many of the visitors who arrive in Jamaica by plane land just east of Montego Bay at the Sangster International Airport. The waterfront is lined with white-sand beaches, hotels and elegant resorts. Its main attractions include championship golf courses, excellent beaches, the Montego Bay Marine Park, and some classic Georgian architecture downtown. Gloucester Avenue, known locally as the Hip Strip, parallels the shore and is the commercial tourist hub.
