Wraps Up 2017 Edition in Abu Dhabi

Supported by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, the star-studded event honoured the best ofTamil

and Malayalam movies and music on final day

All India, 05th July 2017: In association with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the final night of the prestigious annual South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) drew to a close on July 1st, celebrating South Indian cinema across the Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industries under the theme of ‘Celebrating the Unity and Oneness of the South Indian Film Industries’. Held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the second day of the two-day extravaganza recognised the best talent in Telegu and Kannada cinema.

Hosted by renowned actors Sathish and Dhanya Balakrishna, the final evening of SIIMA 2017 featured special performances by Anu Sitara, Manjima Mohan, Nikki Galrani, Hansika Motwani, Mano, and Shriya Saran. In attendance were South Indian movie stars Rana Daggubati, R Madhavan, Rakul Preet, Nivin Pauly, Trisha, Nayanthara , Sivakarthikeyan, Lakshmi Manchu, Mohan Babu, Anirudh Ravichander, and many more, as well as special appearanaces by Bollywood superstars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

The Telegu and Kannada award winners were selected from 120 nominations across 24 categories, honouring the industry’s best singers, lyricists, actors, debutants and music and film directors. A lifetime achievement award was also presented to Mr. S. P. Balasubrahmanyam for his contributions to the industry.

Now in its sixth year, SIIMA is the leading and most-viewed award show in the industry, recognising talent and excellence while taking South Indian Cinema across global horizons to create an engaging platform for South Indian actors to reach international fans. Previous editions have been held in Dubai, Sharjah, Malaysia and Singapore.

The final night of SIIMA was preceded by a special session with Bollywood superstars Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif ahead of their upcoming movie titles Jagga Jasoos, hosted at the Dusit Thani, Abu Dhabi on July 1st.
