
All India, 30th June 2018:The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has joined forces with leading UAE event organisers to produce a fun-packed line-up of events – from renowned international shows to regional and Indian performances and concerts, and comedy shows – for the eagerly-awaited Abu Dhabi Summer Season (ADSS) 2018.
This annual anchor event is part of the emirate’s efforts to boost visitor numbers and increase hotel occupancy rates, with an aim of attracting 5.5 million visitors by the end of 2018.
A host of exciting events will be held at various venues and malls across the capital between June 21st and August 18th as Abu Dhabi cements its status as a year-round destination for family leisure and entertainment. Along with a full calendar of shows for all the family, hotels, malls and visitor attractions will be offering enticing promotions and prizes throughout the 59-day-long festivities.
Here’s how you can join the fun with your family and friends.
MBC Group will host the popular NICKELODEON show from 6th to 15th August where famous characters will be brightening up the summer with very special performances. Join Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Paw Patrol for sing-alongs, meet-and-greets and non-stop activities. Tickets starting from AED60.

With their song going viral across the globe, kids and families can enjoy Pinkfong and Baby Shark at Dalma Mall from June 28th to 30th at 5:30pm and 7:30pm. Watch the delightful live performance with Pinkfong and Baby Shark Teacher and their dancing friends in an interactive song and dance concert. With a “Going on a Train Trip with Pinkfong and Baby Shark” theme, the characters will get the whole family dancing to the beat of lively songs such as Hello Pinkfong, Walking Walking, The Penguin Dance, Jungle Boogie, Train, Monkey Bananas, See You Again Pinkfong and the widely popular Baby Shark song, which has had more than one billion views worldwide. There will also be exciting sessions of exclusive meet-and-greets, merchandise giveaways and photo opportunities with the mascots. Free entrance for all.
Around the World will start at 5:30pm between July 5th and August 14th at Bawadi Mall Stage, Main Atrium. Over the course of 41 days, families can discover new traditions as well as enjoying folklore dances from different countries from around the world with four daily performances. A different country will perform for six days, with the traditional Emirati dance, the Ayallah, taking place on the seventh day. Free entrance for all.
Say goodbye to purchasing tickets for individual cinema screenings and theatre shows! ALLDAY LIVE! is starting between July 26th and 28th at Emirates Palace giving everyone the opportunity to buy a single ticket and watch multiple performances – all in one location. Session 1 (11:30am, 1pm, 2:30pm) Session 2 (4:30pm, 6pm, 7:30pm). A chillout zone has been designed to allow families to refresh in between shows while they wait for the next performance, with a selection of food and beverages from renowned outlets available. This year’s performances include Fireflies Shadow Theatre, and the Hollywood Special Effects Show. Tickets start from AED 145.
One the world’s biggest dance festivals, Unite with Tomorrowland, will be live-streamed in Abu Dhabi at du Forum, Yas Island from 2pm to 2amfrom Boom, Belgium on July 28th. The UAE event will allow concert-goers to simultaneously rave along with a live broadcast synced with other countries. Along with Abu Dhabi, this year’s Unite with Tomorrowland will also include Italy, Malta, Spain, Taiwan, Mexico, and Lebanon. Tickets start from AED 495.
Celebrating India’s Independence Day, SPARKLES OF INDIA, running from August 16th to 18th from 6-11pm at du Forum, will create a traditional Indian environment with colourful art and decor. A mouth-watering variety of culinary delights from different regions will be on offer across the venue, with multiple activations and performances to entertain visitors including a spectacular chariot, Indian parade, and cultural dance routines. A celebrity chef will also be making an appearance and holding live cooking sessions. With a superb entertainment programme, the three-day festival will host a concert by a superstar celebrity in addition to finalists from India’s Got Talent, India Idol, and Dance India. This makes it the only festival in the region to showcase the winners of those leading TV shows live on stage. The festival’s surprise will be a crowd-favourite Bollywood superstar singing live on stage! Tickets start from AED 45.
