– Heartbeat of Jamaica –

All India, 25th June 2014: One of the most important festivals of Jamaica, Reggae Sumfest is set to take place between 13th to 19th July this year. Jamaica’s second-largest city, Montego Bay is the venue for the Reggae Sumfest every year. Reggae Sumfest features top reggae talent to entertain and attract thousands of tourists from around the world. It is often dubbed as “the greatest reggae show on earth”.

Bob Marley is known as the greatest reggae icon on the planet. This influential musician developed the genre reggae in his home country, Jamaica. Marley died at the age of 36 after devoting much of his life to music.

First staged in 1993 by Summerfest Productions Limited, Reggae Sumfest quickly became popular not only in Jamaica but throughout the world. The festival has successfully incorporated international artists to the line up such as Usher, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Rihanna, etc in past few years. This year’s line-up includes Sean Paul, Wiz Khalifa, Jason Derulo and many other international artists. The festival kicks off with its Sumfest Beach Party on 13th July with a great selection of DJs. The remaining days of the festival are followed by All White Party, Dance Hall Night and International Nights showcasing top performers.

Reggae Sumfest is widely regarded as the world’s premier reggae music event. One of the best times for music lovers to visit the island country is during the months of July and August to enjoy reggae along with the summers of Jamaica. The festival is not only a paradise for music lovers but also for food and beer enthusiasts as some mouth-watering Jamaican cuisines are on offer during the festival.

Known fondly as MoBay, Montego Bay is graced with a modern international airport (Sangster International Airport) giving an access to vacationers to the music city. The waterfront of the city is lined with picture-perfect sandy beaches, luxury hotels and elegant resorts. Montego Bay is home to the Hip Strip – a full mile of restaurants, entertainment, shopping, fun and excitement. Montego Bay is a thriving city abuzz with activities for every budget and preference.

With a reputation of presenting top class artists in one of the prime tourist cities – Montego Bay; Reggae Sumfest is committed to showcasing indigenous reggae talent while keeping the motto of Promoting Music, the Universal Force alive.
