YAS MARINA CIRCUIT LAUNCHES SEARCH TO FIND THE ‘RUN TO YAS’ TRAVEL WRITER

Global competition to reward one lucky traveller with the trip of a lifetime

All India, 9th October 2013 : With the countdown to the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX in full swing, Yas Marina Circuit, together with Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), is kicking off a global search to find the official Run to Yas Travel Writer.

Launched this week on Yas Marina Circuit’s Facebook page, the competition will see one lucky adventurer ride shotgun in Yas Marina Circuit’s own Mercedes Benz SLS AMG on The Run To Yas, a five-day luxury road adventure across some of Abu Dhabi and the region’s most breath-taking landscapes.

Starting in Muscat, Oman on 29 October and ending on Yas Island Abu Dhabi just in time for this year’s FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX, the chosen Travel Writer will join up to 30 supercar owners and enthusiasts for an all-expenses paid adventure worth over 170,000 AED across desert landscapes, sampling some of the world’s finest food and hospitality en route to a spectacular finish at Yas Marina Circuit on 2 November.

“There are many roads that lead to the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX at Yas Marina Circuit, and the Run To Yas is certainly one of the most glamorous,” said Ahmed Al Kaabi, Head of Government Affairs, Yas Marina Circuit. “We will welcome with open arms the Run To Yas Travel Writer along with the other participants of the Run To Yas, in time to witness what promises to be the most compelling FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX to date.”

“As the official Yas Marina Circuit driver for the Run To Yas, I’m greatly looking forward to the opportunity to share the best of Emirati hospitality and culture with the winner of this competition,” continued Al Kaabi.

Throughout the journey, the Run to Yas Travel Writer will file daily ‘life on the road’ reports, sharing photos and stories on the motorcade and its motorists, which this year will include two veteran F1®  drivers.

“The Run to Yas Travel Writer competition is the chance for one lucky traveller to sample the very best of what Abu Dhabi has to offer,” said Faisal Al Sheikh, Director, Events Bureau, TCA Abu Dhabi. “From remote desert escapes to vibrant urban settings, and from luxurious hospitality to the UAE’s flagship sporting event, the FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX, the Run To Yas will further propel Abu Dhabi’s compelling and diverse proposition across the world.”

To be eligible to win, aspiring Run to Yas Travel Writers need to demonstrate they’re ready to report by visiting Yas Marina Circuit’s official Facebook page –  www.facebook.com/yasmarinacircuit – and answer the call to describe the best trip they’ve ever been on, sharing the post with their friends. The winner will then be selected by a panel of judges based on the quality and uniqueness of their entry. Launched this week, the competition will run until 15th October, with the lucky winner announced on 17th October 2013.
